A few weeks ago I attended the coolest event at the Whole Body store by my local Whole Foods. The “Makeup Breakup” event was an invitation to break up with toxic makeup and discover more natural alternatives. I went as a guest of Ngoc from San Jose Food Blog, with my sister Kate from Clear the Way and Olivia from Rio the Dreamcatcher. This was my first blogging event and it was so much fun. I made a DIY lip scrub with all natural ingredients and essential oils by Aura Cacia, tested out some hair products by Giovanni and had my makeup done by Shana of Fox and Doll with beautiful Mineral Fusion makeup products. There was a table with Juice Beauty skincare and makeup, and even manicures.
This all natural lip scrub was made with brown sugar, honey, essential oils as well as coconut and apricot oils. It smells and feels amazing and it was so simple to make. You can check out the recipe and try it at home.
The food table was amazing; I loved the crostini best. If you’ve been following along you’ll already know about my penchant for burrata and cheese in general. Needless to say this event was so well-done and I had a lot of fun. I found several new products that I love from Mineral Fusion that have become everyday staples in my beauty routine. The primer is a perfect base layer for my foundation and I’ve begun spritzing a bit of toner to “set it,” a trick Shana taught me. This helps my powder foundation look more like a liquid and prevents my skin from looking as dry as it actually is.
