Basil is so great I don’t even know where to start. I love the way it smells, I love the way it grows with the little whorled flower buds, and, of course, I love the way it tastes. My dad grows fresh basil in his garden and I will never go back to the dried stuff ever again. I love adding freshly chopped basil to my salads, or really anything I cook. I also like making basil simple syrup to add to cocktails, my favorite is a cucumber basil gimlet.
