Write it Out is a monthly creative writing series from my sister Kate at Clear the Way. It is an opportunity to explore your creative side with the full support of the blogging community. Each month Kate creates a prompt and invites fellow bloggers to share the thoughts/feelings it inspired in you. There is no set format, you can write a poem, short story, or simply jot down your thoughts. This month’s topic: being new at something.
The sunrise is a quiet feeling,
Though I never feel prepared.
The dawn of a new day nagging me,
Urging me on my way.
Each morning is a fresh start,
Though it doesn’t always feel so.
A chance to try again,
An opportunity to grow.
This bears repeating,
My mind needs reminding.
Tomorrow is something new,
Do your best. It’s over soon.
Lately my idea that I can do it all is being challenged. Every day. I feel I am still in the transition of going back to school. This is my second quarter back, but it still feels new. I struggle with feeling overwhelmed and stressed by all the things I need to do, and the desire to do them all well. I am learning to let go of the stress, and to just do the best I can each day. It helps to remember that each day is a new start. I think if you are doing your best, that’s all you can do and the stress won’t help. This month I’m choosing to focus on the hope of each new day and finding peace in a job well tried, if not always well-done.
How do you deal with daily stresses? Are you new at something?
