A children’s nasal-based allergy medicine was recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration due to a potential yeast and mold contamination that can be life-threatening to certain people.

Buzzagogo Inc. voluntarily recalled its Allergy Bee Gone for Kids Nasal Swab Remedy after an FDA test found elevated levels of yeast & mold that may contain the bacteria Bacillus cereus inside the children’s allergy medication.

Immunocompromised people that use the recalled product could potentially suffer from severe or life-threatening adverse events such as bacteremia/sepsis, pneumonia, invasive fungal rhinosinusitis, or disseminated fungal infection, health officials said.

Non-immunocompromised patients who use the recalled medicine may experience infectious complications, such as bacteremia or noninvasive fungal rhinosinusitis, the FDA said.

Buzzagogo has yet to report any complaints or complications of microbial concerns from the recalled medicine.

The company is currently notifying its distributors and customers and is arranging for the return or replacement of the recalled products, according to the FDA.

Any consumers, distributors or retailers that have Allergy Bee Gone for Kids Nasal Swab Remedy, lot # 2006491, are urged to stop using the product immediately, throw away any remaining product and contact the company recall@buzzagogo.com for a full refund, health officials said.
